ENERGY STAR® Configuration Rules

ENERGY STAR® requires following a rules-based configuration selection for each system. Select your components (processors, graphics, hard drives, etc) within columns labeled Low, Medium, or High to complete a valid ENERGY STAR configuration.  These labels, Low, Medium, and High, refer to the level of energy efficiency and ENERGY STAR requires that they be grouped together, but you may mix and match within the levels.

The following ENERGY STAR system configuration rules will help you build your ENERGY STAR compliant system:

EPEAT™ Gold

EPEAT Gold

As of April 1, 2008 HP’s entire Personal Workstation line was the first in the category to achieve a ‘Gold’ listing – the highest rating products can achieve – in the Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT™).

The EPEAT registry is designed to help businesses easily evaluate, compare and select desktop computers, notebooks and monitors based on the products’ environmental attributes. EPEAT evaluates electronic products according to three tiers of environmental performance: Bronze, Silver and Gold. The program is sponsored by the Green Electronics Council, and its environmental criteria are defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
