The HP Z800 and has new radical case design which requires no screws to install
drives, boards, or memory. This design is perfect for the video editor who wants
to quickly add options or change his configuration. In a matter of seconds you
can completely change your desktop hardware to take on a new task. The Z800 has
handles which make it very easy to move around your studio. The new Z also has
the option to be rack mounted.
Another benefit of the new design is noise level, or more accurately, the lack
of noise. With the current high-end workstations, the noise level of the fans
makes for a very noisy work environment and when you are working with audio
files, the room noise levels are critical. When the Z800 is running you need to
double check by looking at the lights on the front to see that it’s really on.
Now for the “Geek Stuff”
To keep it simple - this machine is the fastest machine I’ve ever used. Why?

The new Z has no front side bus, the speed of the bus depends on the speed of
the Intel Processors. The faster the clock speed and/or processors, the faster
the overall performance of the machine. The new Nehalem processors has new
HyperThreading and Turbo Boost Modes which deliver 16 Core threads. When
combined with a 64 bit operating and lots of RAM our Adobe CS4 applications like
Premiere Pro, After Effects and Media Encoder get an instant benefit from this
raw power. A quick look at the Windows Task manager will show that these new CS4
video applications are taking full advantage of the Z800 hardware. All 16
threads and memory are clearly visible and all working hard to give the
performance you would expect from this type of workstation.
Lastly, the change from DD2 to DD3 memory allows the Z800 to keep up with the
changes in the processors and new Gen2 PCI Express slots have double the clock
speed for the boards installed in the Z800. This means better board speed
without comprising compatibility.
Hands down this machine is destined to be a rock star.
